The Conservators of Ashdown Forest are aware of concerns from some visitors regarding alleged fake QR codes on payment information signs in our car parks.

The car parking scheme on Ashdown Forest is managed by Horizon, who have confirmed that the QR codes are genuine and not a scam.

The codes on the signs provide a way for visitors to connect to the Horizon website to pay for parking.

The original QR codes on the signs were overlaid with stickers by Horizon to provide an updated QR code. These may have been seen as fake but are, in fact, not.

The Horizon team checks the signs in each car park three times per day to ensure the QR codes have not been tampered with.

There are, of course, several other ways to pay for parking. These include the five parking apps, pay by phone, pay by card on the machine at the Forest Centre, or by cash in the Information Barn at the Forest Centre.

Alternatively, regular visitors may benefit from purchasing an annual pass.
