A family workshop to make a Silver Birch besom broom

Learn to make a traditional ‘besom’ broom – perfect for sweeping leaves or Quidditch competitions !

Our first task will be to cut some of the young silver birch trees that are spreading onto the rare heathland on Ashdown Forest. By taking part in this workshop we will also be helping protect the special habitat.

You will learn skills in cutting and shaping wood and tree identification.

A fun, outdoor workshop for the whole family led by the Ashdown Education Team.

 

Come dressed to be outside whatever the weather. There is indoor space in very wet weather.

Most suitable for children 6 years and over.

Buy one ticket per family. There will be a small additional charge if you want to make more than 2 brooms per family .
