Join the Friends of Ashdown Forest

Founded more than 60 years ago, The Society of the Friends of Ashdown Forest supports the conservation of this unique and precious habitat.

The Friends’ work has enabled the Conservators to buy parcels of land to add back into the Forest, and also buy vital equipment such as vehicles and radio systems.

The Friends run a varied programme of events that includes talks, meetings and walks to encourage conservation and the peaceful enjoyment of the Forest.

If you’re interested in becoming a Friend of Ashdown Forest, visit their website for further information.

Volunteers

Do you have some free time available? Are you interested in helping to manage and preserve Ashdown Forest, and welcome visitors? Would you like to meet like-minded people?

Then why not come join us?

Our volunteers help us in a variety of different ways, and they all help to keep Ashdown Forest a special place for wildlife and visitors alike.  We are grateful for any time they can give us, be it as a conservation volunteer on a task day, keeping the Visitor Centre open, checking our animals and much more.

You can download our Volunteer Application Form Here.

The Conservators of Ashdown Forest received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2016.

Corporate Fundraising

If your organisation is interested in supporting the environment, would you consider adopting Ashdown Forest as your cause of the year?

There are also opportunities to sponsor many areas of our work, including the Education Programme, our Forest Centre events, the Grazing Programme, areas of woodland, Ashdown Forest ranger vehicles, car parks and others.

We would be interested in working with those who would like to align their work with our vision. You can find more information here.

Corporate Volunteering

A day working in the Forest is an uplifting change of scene and great team building activity. A group of volunteers can achieve a huge amount in a day.

Tasks include a variety of woodland and heathland maintenance such as coppicing, clearing scrub and removing invasive species.

Gifts in Memory

There are several ways to donate in memory of loved ones and help keep Ashdown Forest special.

We have opportunities to sponsor lecterns, benches, bridges, cairns, signs, gates, and picnic tables. Every memorial has space for a stainless steel plaque.

Donations cover the memorial delivery, installation, plaque, and maintenance for ten years.

For more information please get in touch.

Gifts in Kind

We welcome a range of donations to support our work. They could include raffle and auction prizes to help us raise funds at events, books to sell in our Information Barn, resources to help us minimise our running costs, and tools and equipment for our conservation team.
